...I think I could make one of those...

Just finished writing up patterns for two similar, yet distinctly different hats. Similar in that they're both made solely of puff stitches, different in that one is very understated, the other is...not. They look a lot different from each other when worn, though they do look pretty similar in the pictures.
Small puff hat:

Large puff hat:

I really like the way the small puff hat came out, very classy imo. While I find the large puff hat cute, it's a little too much for my liking, I think it may be just the color though. Any comments are appreciated!

Edit:
Added pictures of the two hats on, plus a new hat pattern:

While I do like them both, I prefer the smaller version. Did you just use a smaller hook?

I used a larger hook and two strands of yarn for the big puff version. It's hard to tell in the picture, but they're really 3d.
I used simply soft in Jonquil for the yellow hat, and Autumn Red for the red hat. I love the Autumn Red color, it's much prettier than the pic shows.

oh thanks for adding action shots... I love em. I started the small puff hat last night, but I guess my yarn was too bulky, cuz the gauge was all wonky... I have been doing homework all day today, so I haven't been able to work on starting over yet, but hopefully tomorrow. Smiley

Oh, and I'm so excited for ANOTHER new pattern... I LOVE your patterns!! Smiley

Thank you thank you!

Omigosh...I'm so in love with everything you make. Have you ever considered making a hat with crossed stitches? (Like X-stitches...I've seen so many cute ones and I always try to make them but suffer an epic fail.) You rock!
