Hi All,
I've been invited to lead a group (a dozen or two people, I guess) in a crafty activity for a party. It's a b-day party (for an adult) so it would be neat to do a project where all the guests can contribute bits of a thing to give as a gift. But I also think it'd be neat if everyone had a momento to bring home. Maybe a little swap type of thing?
Although I'll shell out some cash for basics, there won't be gobs of materials, or any complicated equipment. I have a month, so I'd like to collect reusables as material if possible. Also, I could arrange to have each person bring a basic item as a starting point, or as a contribution to the pool of supplies. The people will have mixed crafting experience, I assume, but I'm sure everyone will be enthusiastic and creative. I'm thinking paper crafts and collages are good ideas.
Please, tell me your ideas! I'd love to get some inspiration here!

Some quick and easy projects that immediately come to my mind are marble magnets, wine glass charms, decoupaged picture frames, ribbon headbands, paper or fabric bookmarks, star books, and stenciled T-shirts.  These things are all extremely easy to make, but look great when they are finished.  If you did marble magnets or wine glass charms, each person could keep one of their own, and then get one that someone else made, leaving them with a nice set.

This sounds like a fun party - good luck!

Great ideas! But what is a star book?
I like the idea of making sets and swapping. That would be really fun.
I was thinking along the lines of a collage, since I think it's something that anyone can really get into without being worried their work isn't "good enough." So I am playing with the idea of collaging about the person. Maybe I can combine the two ...
