Hey Australian Crafters!

I'm from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  I'm going to be taking an across-Australia trip very soon, and as I go I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to stop into some extra special fabric /craft shops and pick up a *restrained* amount of goodies to take home (backpack permitting..)

I've got access to run-of-the-mill fabric stores here at home, so what I'm looking for is more like boutiques that carry cute / designer textiles and possibly other goodies?

Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

There's a Japanese textile warehouse in Melbourne called Kazari 7-11 Hill St Richmond, if you're interested in that sort of thing. There's also Job Warehouse at 56-58 Bourke Street
Melbourne Smiley good luck and have fun!

I'm a native, and I WISH I could afford to buy these gorgeous fabrics.

And thanks for 1) mentioning a shop close by that sells Japanese textiles and 2) Telling me what Job Warehouse actually does. I see it all the time, but had convinced myself it was a front for some crime syndicate.

If you are heading as far as Perth, Western Australia, then there is Homecraft Textiles on Albany Hwy in Victoria Park. Its run by some Indians and has so many beautiful sari-type fabrics, also lots of jacquard curtaining, beautiful ornate tassels etc. Oh and the biggest range of ribbons and elastic ive ever seen. Varigated bias binding, ppl! In several colourways!!

Here's a new fabric store in Sydney, they have amazing designer remnants and lots of unique imported fabrics. =)

It's called "The Fabric Store", and it's just two blocks up from Central Station (21 Cooper St, Surry Hills). Here's their flyer, just in case you want to check it out!
