Ok, here's the picture of my yard stick fiber display:

I tied the coral ribbons around each end, secured those to the yard stick with glue dots, then used thumb tacks to attach the yard stick to the wall.  Then I just looped the fibers over the yardstick.

This really only works for short random lengths -- I have small balls (10 yards or so) in a box, and all my knitting/crochet yarns in clear rubbermaid containers in a closet.  But this is mostly my "altered art" fiber collection.  I have more though -- I have to buy another yard stick to put next to this one.

what a great personal page gingerquilts!!  love the "scrappy" hair Grin

Now that is a pretty neato way to have your altered art fibers handy Kat.  I have an old wooden Ikea drawing paper holder (it holds a roll on a dowel) that would work perfectly for that!!  thanks for the idea Smiley

That's a great quilty page! So perfect for you!

I have an old hinged wooden rule that I could make into a great fibre display...but *sigh* my few fibers would look lost on it Cheesy

Oh ginger your quilt person is fabulous!

For reasons I cannot fathom, mail goes to and from Finland much faster than to the UK or even the US!

Here's the lovely fibre-full page I received from Heini:

I love the tiny tag with her contact information in amongst the fibres and ribbons and beads and such. I am also a fan of Kandinsky, so I appreciate the quote. Thanks Heini!

And here is the page I sent her (called 'Pareidolia, like a dragon in the clouds')

Pareidolia means seeing images in random stimuli (like say, animals in cloud shapes) and is quite useful when looking for ideas for art. Wink [Dragon is a lino block print on patterned paper. Clouds are layers of Japanese papers + some beads and embroidery floss.]

fiber-licious page heini!  thats one of my favorite things about the chunky-getting to use lots of fibers and random bits!

minouette, I love the theme of "pareidolia" and the dragon lino is awesome as usual Smiley

Thanks altered_mommy.  Cheesy
I had to have a stern chat with the cat, explaining that Heini's page only looked like it was intended for her, but despite the ribbon, it is distinctly not for cats. Wink

Thanks!

And thanks for the great page and for posting the pics, minouette. I didn't know word pareidolia before, me and my sisters had called it "the face syndrome". Now I know the correct term and can be proud of my skill of seeing faces everywhere, because it helps me be more creative.

I'm glad you (and your cat too) liked the page. It's also nice to hear that the Kandinsky quote was so good choice for you.
