Inspired by the awesome cover made by "heybabyboombah"
 http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=224256.0
I replaced my old scungy cover with this!

Black vinyl 50 cents from the offcut bin at Spotlight, bird cut from the old vinyl cover.
( I was thinking something old, something new, something borrowed, something.....black?)
Took about oh, 10 minutes from start to finish, why did I have the horrible one so long?

Am I happy?
Yes I am!

Wow!  I've never wanted a sewing machine cover until this precise moment.  It's perfect and would match my craft room wonderfully!

10 minutes?  Dang!!

I know what you mean!
I never even thought about it till I saw one, then as Im tidying the room, it seemed obvious.
I cut my old cover up to make the pattern.
It took longer to find a pic of a bird I liked than to cut it out and sew the whole thing, lol

Nice, but your backdrop gave me a fantastic idea. Someone gave me a 3 in circle punch and I had no idea what to use it for,  bubble pics!

ScrappySue, thanks so much for posting your great cover!  I love it, and it inspired me to make one too.  Funny about the vinyl - I bought a scrap bit at JoAnne's thinking I'd make a little something having never had worked with vinyl before.  My son was going paintballing, so I sewed up a quick vest and lined it with some batting.  Anyhow, I realized it wasn't too hard to work with and when I saw your post, I knew what I wanted to do!

The image on the front is a designed "I" that I had doodled many years ago, but much more simplistic. Yeah, my name is Ingrid. The doodle on paper is much better, but this is ok.  I never had a cover for my machine, so I kinda winged it as far as pattern.  I did make a hole for the handle, which I do like.  I also tried to do some fancy seams -I still need to work on that though lol.

Anyhow, thanks for the inspiration!

I love both of the covers as well! Both of you did a great job. It almost makes you want to keep the cover on the sewing machine so you can look at it. Only then you wouldn't be able to sew. x) Anyway, GREAT job!! I love it!

Oh how I love that cover!
The doodle worked out beautiful, it reminds me of an asian boat,
and yes, I was amazed at how simple vinyl was to sew, I still have a square left over, not sure what to make yet

Great jobs, ScrappySue and ingysoup!  Both look quite nice and expensive.  My machine cover looks quite lame now-- thanks a lot...   Tongue

Wow!! This is such a great idea!  I have all sorts of vinyl scraps.  I just hope my sewing machine is up to sewing vinyl.
Lovely covers!!

Thanks all.  testingtime, yeah, it does make me want to put it on the machine, and then not sew!  lol, but I do that all too well already.  But, I did put it on tonight!  ScrappySue, I thought the same thing:
