The city would be prettier covered in yarn...

If I didn't see these on here, I would be dubious that they're hand-made; the skillery (skillery?) is phenomenal. wow. (hits This Rocks)

Those are absolutely gorgeous. I can wait to get good enough with the knitting to handle 6 colors!

This is insanely gorgeous! I LOVE the colors and the design is just... wow! Shocked I've tried fair isle, but when I wove in the ends, it ruined the whole thing. Sad *sighs*

Thanks for the great comments, everyone!  I'm so totally addicted to Fair Isle/colorwork now; I'm beginning to think it might be unhealthy.   Cheesy

As to how long they took to make... I spent at least 10 hours designing and polishing up the design in Excel (including the redesign after the first mitt.)  The actual knitting took about 2 weeks of evenings (lots of knitting during the Daily Show!) not including the first mitt that became cat-bait.  Things got a lot faster once I learned to knit 2-handed, although I still haven't found the perfect way to hold the yarn in my right hand.

Looking at the yarn in balls, I was worried that the oranges and reds wouldn't go with the blues, but they sure knitted up nicely... I'm glad other people agree!  I'm thinking of using a similar combo for a pair of mittens.

Also, I love that word, "skillery."  I think we should make it part of the knitter vocabulary!

Wow! That's amazing. My grandmother lives in New Mexico and I went to visit her over the summer. When I saw the thumbnail of the gloves on the front page, I immediately thought of the state. Those are fantastic! *clicky clicky on This Rocks*
