I made this for an owl swap, it was originally supposed to be a pin cushion but it's a bit big for that i think.

i fussy cut the batik so the back part looks like a tail, there are swirls in each ear, and the front bit looks like belly and beak.

i've seen similarish eyes on other dolls, a bunny i think and maybe an owl too.

the wings are fussy cut for a feather pattern.

i wish i could have gotten a closer picture of the wee mousey. he has beaded eyes and nose, the ears are fussy cut so there's a heart on the back of each one and a swirl inside, and his tail is braided embroidery floss. his body is one of those strawberries from the classic tomato & strawberry pincushion combo. it's filled with this stuff that sharpens pins so you gotta stab it with them now and then. i told you it was kinda creepy! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

You did a wonderful job! The work around the eyes are amazing, and the extra time to cut the batik like you did really paid off! It looks really professional!

I love the squinty eyes!  I definitely prefer this owl over some of the ridiculously cute ones out there.  They're birds of prey, they deserve a little menace Wink

Also, what is this "stuff that sharpens pins" that you filled him with?  I'm curious!

thanks guys!

the mouse is made of one of those strawberries that come attached to a tomato pin cushion. they are filled with stuff (emery) hat sharpens pins. you Can buy it somewhere but it costs a ton and i don't know where to find it. you don't need much though so the mouse is big enough!
here's a pic of the tomato guy.

I absolutely love this owl. You are my hero!

The way you fussy cut the fabric for the body is incredible! (And so is the fabric you chose)... I love the owl, he looks like a wise, slighly annoyed old owl... which I love Smiley

Cheesy You did a great job on the eyes!

What is an owl swap? I love owls!

Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sand there except those that sang best.
