Well I was browsing the craftster.org forum completed projects board and came across this skirt http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=169956.0  and thought to myself how sexy would I look in this so I proceeded to investigate how to go about with its construction. Then while browsing the simplicity website I found a pattern for a pencil skirt 5259 and thought that would be great to alter if i could just figure out how to customize this pattern to include the pleats and high waist band....Someone told me that I should try grading and another person suggested slashing and spreading, i'm not sure what to do or how...HELP

The best way I can see is add darts to the pattern at the top of the skirt, except you don't sew them as actual 'darts' , and the waist band i think would be pretty easy, there is already a waist band on that skirt, I'd just make it wider..
