Some time ago Teapotdnky crafted some wonderful polymer clay heads for me.  Am thrilled to report that one is now a complete doll.

This was created in Sharon Bs Take It Further Challenge
http://sharonb.wordpress.com/take-it-further-challenge/

First I gathered spring tone wool felt and then looked at the available faces - this one in rich earth tones and leaf crown was so right for the doll so proceeded to create the body around the face.  Beaded the lower body with multi color, multi size, and leaf beads, made a collar of felt leaves and embroidery, framed the face with the red flower, the vine arms are wet felted roving over floral wire then shaped.

Thanks so much teapot! the head really makes this piece.

This so totally rocks!  I have lots of little dolly things, when there is something significant that I really hope to find or to avoid, to the extent that I feel like I need to ask for help from the various Higher Powers, I make a little dolly that represents that thing (to me) and then I do special things to it to either make it happy and come my way, or to make it not feel welcome in my life and go away.  I find this really helps my state of mind.  One thing I am repeatedly stuck on though, is that I have a hard time making the clay faces that I want, so I keep thinking about hunting around on Craftster to see if I can find someone who can make the faces for me...  I think you have inspired me to get off my behind and actually put some effort into my search.
Thanks for posting, it also helps me to know that I am not the only person who makes these types of magical little dolls.

Thanks LC.  So pleased to hear from you and your take on these little doll too.  There are some faces at Joggles http://www.joggles.com/store/catalog/index.php?cPath=77_490

but most of those just don't have the tone I want/wanted.  I also have some faces from http://fantasyart0oak.etsy.com  which are gorgeous, but to pretty for this doll.  This one really needed an earthy, good witch, lived in face, was so thrilled to have this one on hand.

Good luck in your search.

I think maybe your doll belongs in the More Art, Less Craft board.  Your bead work is astounding!  Love the finished doll- you're right- it is the perfect face for this doll.  Well done!
