To achgfd: The stitch is fairly simple, but I'm rubbish at explaining stitches unless I have my notes right in front of me.

The bottom one has a ribbon for a design, did you plan it that way? Or is that the way the yarn works up?

It's just the way the yarn works up.  That one I made with yarn my Mother-in-Law let me borrow, so I don't know the name of the color.  The brand is Peaches 'n Cream, so at least I know that!
