in terms of the trimming, i personally would stick with something subtle like a shiny black ribbon. i almost would say it doesn't need any trimming at all. but that's just me.

I love the hat.  The trim you pick depends on how many things you want to wear it with.  Someone mentioned a black ribbon. That will give you the most wearabilty.  But you could with another color that goes well with the colors that you have most in your warbrobe.

I love hats too.  I'm a little sad that people don't wear them as much as they used to in past eras.  On the up side it makes us stand out more since not a lot of people wear them often anymore.  That book has been on my wish list for a while now.  I'll definetly check out that pattern.

Hope I'm making sense.

Oops! I just ordered the pattern. Thanks for the link to sewingpatterns.com Smiley
Threw in a few other patterns as well, while I was at it.
I hope to find time to sew a new hat this week.

Thank you all for your comments. I'm glad I could help too Smiley

About the trimming: I think I'm gonna put a black gosgrain ribbon. Then I'll make other adornments like bows and butterflies and feathers as removable pins.

That sounds good.  You'll get lots of wear from it that way.

AHHH!  Someone made a fedora pattern!  My boyfriend has one and i envy him!  Hot Topic(american gothic, punk, and emo clothes store) has awesome pin stripe ones, but they're all too small for my size large head!  Thanks for turning me on to this!
