The inspiration for this piece is an antique "Pain Expeller" bottle.  I painted a lightweight cigar box with metallic bronze paint.  I decoupaged the background with original pages from a 1950s atlas and a 1909 medical textbook.  On this half, you can read "the cold bath" through the vintage Union flask.  Here is a picture of the entire piece:

Here is a closeup of the "Pain Expeller" bottle.  Above it is a swatch I knitted out of 1940s Knit-Cro-Sheen on size 0 needles.  The needles are about the diameter of a tooth pick, and I believe I became a touch insane trying to work the skinny string through those green, clear and amber beads.

I don't know whether you can see this, but the little copper box to the left of the "Pain Expeller" can open for hiding a little treasure.

I gave this woman a little red bird for company and a seashell hat for style.

Hope you like it!

This piece is gorgeous, what an awesome job!

I love the old glass bottles and "pain expeller" is awesome... Especially if it worked heh.

You have a great eye for color, they work so well together and its very warm feeling.

This is amazing. Where did you find such great stuff? It's clear that I need to train my brain to look for fantastic pieces like the ones you have in this project.

Lol I think I know why that "Pain Expeller" worked... It's 49% Alcohol. Pretty sure you wouldn't feel ANYTHING if you drank enough of that.
