Duct Tape Rules!!!

My daughter just bought an iPod classic in silver.  Not much choice in color: black or silver.  Her favorite color is green.  Has anyone ever painted an iPod?  Any suggestions for what would be appropriate to use?

Being that pods are plastic I would use either Plaid's Paint for Plastic or FolkArt acrylic Enamels. Both will be permanent when cured and they don't require a finishing top coat. Just paint, let cure, and you're done!

*Please note that if you paint the iPod any warranty on the product will become void.

Another suggestion would be to paint one of the skins that slip over the iPod for protection. By doing that any warranty would still remain intact.

It's plastic?  Sure feels like metal to me.

Painting on the skins sounds like a good idea.  That would allow her to change things later with a lot less fuss.

Thanks!

the classic ones do have metal backs, and although i've never tried you should be able to paint it using any sort of metal-paint.

however i would look into getting a sleeve for it, because every ipod i've had has only lasted 8-10mo. and the warranty allows for me to send it in and get it fixed/replaced.

She did buy a clear plastic case at the same time she bought the iPod.  As soon as she took it out of the box she put it into the case to keep it shiny new.  She just hates to leave things plain and especially since she couldn't get it in green, she wants to decorate it.

I am just happy because I inherited her iPod nano!  Now if I can just remove all of the sticker residue from the back. Roll Eyes

why not paint the clear plastic case? Then you dont have to worry about voiding warranties plus if she gets bored with the design its only a few dollars to change it out! Plus then if it does break, take it out send it in looking as good as new!

This might not be as crafty but you could get a sticker type thing to pu onto the ipod. You can custom make them with photos or any kind of design you want.

I got one for myself and I love it.

That's a cool site.  I think she would be very happy with that.  And the prices are pretty reasonable.  Thanks!
