I am so in! Quick question: is there a size guideline for the item we craft for our partner?

There is no guideline but you may want to work this out with your swap partner. If you both agree to a medium-sized item, then that's fine!

I haven't been able to any pics of my new boy Shine but here's my other babies RayRay(the orange and white one) and Meats(the black one).  It would just be so nice to craft for somebody and not have to worry about cat hair!

RayRay looks a lot like Poopy.

RayRay does look like Poopy just a little fluffier!  Too cute, I love looking at the pics of all the kitties. Grin

Just a note, participants may begin thrift shopping right now! You never know what you'll find. For some reason, I find cat stuff in thrift shops all the time!

If there's no thrift store in your town, remember, you can shop elsewhere - or just make another craft.

This is a fairly flexible swap.  Cheesy

I got out of swap jail today *yay*!
Hopefully the organizer will re-add the Kittie here to the swap... Smiley

I disagree that thrifted stuff is junk--some of my very favorite finds are from secondhand shops or garage sales. Smiley I'm really looking forward to scouring the shops in my town. There are a ton of them! My favorite one is actually an antique store and they're having their annual half-price sale through this week. I might have to go cat hunting. (That doesn't sound very good!  Cheesy)

ETA: Everyone has adorable babies, and I love the name Poopy.  Cheesy

Poopy, LOL! I had a friend who named his bird Poopy.
Both of the red/white cats were cute.

I'm sorry. I guess I was too broad in my statement. Generalizations tend to always be too far-reaching. Smiley I disagree that ALL thrift store stuff is junk too, but to me it does imply a sort of redneck-ishness that I am *sure* my landlord will not appreciate.

I like the fine things in life, but I wholeheartedly disagree that thrift shopping implies a lower social standard. Recycling such items saves the environment, frees the landfills, provides jobs and services for the disadvantaged, unites the community, and gives folks a chance to connect with the past (through antiques or vintage items). Plus, not to mention, the thrill of the hunt and the glory of the discovery.

I champion the art (and it is an art) of thrift shopping on my blog and Web site. I really believe the most creative people are those who find new life for old items. Nothing wrong with that at all!

hooray!

This is my first swap, and I'm very excited!

Let me introduce you.  This is Max:

We assume he was weaned too early... he spent a great deal of time as a kitten suckling on any yarn he could find.  I found him and CabPatch in a very comprimising position (and no, I did NOT stage this picture!!)

And his brother, Charlotte:

We found them as kittens at a pet store; they'd been abandoned in the parking lot and the store couldn't legally adopt them out.  The "vet" at the pet store said Charlotte was a girl, so we named her accordingly.  Six months later when it was time for spaying/neutering, we realized the mistake.  By then, though, the name was established.  I wrote a paper back in college on Charlotte, and all the crazy ways I unintentionally attributed feminine characteristics to her, based solely on her name and assigned pronoun... Smiley

Thanks for posting everyone... I'm really looking forward to this swap!!
