Every so often, the people at Creation (a gallery/studio/performance space type place in Worcester St behind the Square) put on a market.  I still haven't made it along to one, but I think it would be really cool if a bunch of us made some stuff and went and sold it there!  I have yet to find out when the next one is, but I'll post when I know.  Has anyone ever been before?

That sounds like a really good idea- how much would it cost to get a table/stall/spot there? What sort of stuff do people sell there? Ive made cruddy scarves and jewellery, with the odd bag/purse- is that the sort of thing they look for?  Where is it held?

I was supposed to contribute some stuff to a stall with some mates at one of the markets at creation last year, it was a night-time one called Freak's market, but I couldn't make it on the night :-(
I had made a couple of bags, and some plastic jewellery, and some small knitty things but they are still sitting in my craft cupboard.
Apparently that kind of small accessory stuff sold quite well as opposed to large expensive things.
I think you have to provide your own trestle table and anything else you may need, but I don't think it costs very much to have a stall.

Took some of my clothing to the freak market, when they had one last year....didnt sell anything (other friends of mine did - and yes it was the smaller cheaper stuff) - but I think that it just didnt get enough traffic. The girl who ran them hasnt organised anymore as far as I know. But on the subject of Creation, I sold stuff in Wyrd Gallery for  a while - its closed down....but is reopening in the Creations building!! They support New Zealand creativity and its an outlet if you have stuff to sell you should have a look.
