so, i found a place to take basket weaving classes last fall. this is the first basket i made:

i was really pleased with the results, and i found that i absolutely love to weave baskets! it's so...relaxing.

well, my mom just loved it when she came to visit, so i surprised her with one for x-mas! i bought the supplies from the class instructor and wove it all by myself on my kitchen floor, so naturally i'm incredibly proud of myself and the basket!

the difference between my mom's and mine is the shape...i squared off her sides. don't know why  i didn't do it on mine...but actually, i like both shapes.

and finally, i took a second class and made this christmas basket:

the green reeds are trees!!  Smiley

hope you enjoyed looking at them and i hope it inspires you to check out basket weaving!

questions/comments/criticism welcome!

Those are both beautiful!  You have the knack!  I like the Xmas one cause it's frivolous and fun, but the first is both beautiful and utilitarian.

yes, jagar, pick up another hobby! this one is not as expensive as say, sewing/quilting and it's got instant gratification, especially if you take a class because you walk away with a completed project!
