So I work with this super sweet older gentleman who loves Elvis, oldies music, dark chocolate, cookies and ice cream...anyway...I want to give him a gift for his birthday.  I don't have a lot of money to spend, so I'm going to make him a mix CD and then I purchased a 1/2 of this fabric at Walmart for $2.22.  But I am at a loss of what to make that a man would like & use, so I was hoping my fellow craftsters could help me out...what do you think?  I would also be willing to add some more fabric in a coordinating color.  Thanks so much in advance!!! Love yas!

PS: That Black band seen at the bottom is not part of the fabric

I think it's adorable you're doing this for him!
Does he have glasses?  What about a glasses holder?  Or a wallet?  Maybe an Elvis scarf?
Cheesy
I can't wait to see what you make, so be sure to post it! ^_^

Thanks for replying!  A scarf may work if maybe I can find some coordinating fleece and back it with the Elvis fabric.  And a glasses case would be good too!  I love your avatar- Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!

I'm open to more options, so please everyone, post away!

Oh you're lovely! You could make a fabric envelope (like this maybe http://www.craftlog.org/craftlog/archives/002032.html) and put either the mix cd or some chocolates inside. If you used interfacing and made it nice and sturdy he could use it to store all kinds of things Smiley

Depending on your office culture, maybe some office-y stuff? A chair cushion/back cushion for those uncomfortable desk chairs? Or maybe cover some office supplies with it, like a paper in-box or business card holder? Heck, you could even use a soup can and make a super affordable pen caddy as part of it. Office supplies are useable by a guy, and if your office allows it, it's a cool way to add a little personality to a boring desk.

In that vein, I also saw a fabric-and-rice wrist rest up on new projects the other day, something like that could also be neat and affordable!
