"modified" to add actual  pics instead of links

This is the first time I've started a thread, and first time I've uploaded a photo, so be gentle with me and here's hopin' it works!  (Oops, even tho I joined awhile back and have even become a "friend of Craftster" I haven't posted enough times to put a pic on, so you'll have to click on the link for my project:

I've been making purse from record albums, here's one of them (my favorite, at least my favorite for today)

Tell me what you think

How fun is that! Is that Luan that you used to back the record with? And how on earth did you cut the record? Are the metal studs rivets, snaps? Sorry so many questions but I think I might like to take a stab at making one. Do you think it would be horrid to use the Beatles white album? I sure would get a lot more use out of it as a purse than as a dust collector since I have it in CD lol.

Glad you like the purse - I eat 'em too! Yes, it's Luan on the back.  Cut the record with a bandsaw (hubby does that for me)  Studs are rivets, they are put thru holes drilled with a drill press (hubby again).  There's a lot of sanding involved, too, to make sure all edges are even and to remove splinters.  Some of that is done by belt sander (have I mentioned hubby?), some is done by hand.
Once you have your purse done, when you carry it be prepared to be stopped ALOT by people who eat purses and records - they are real attention getters!
As for the White Album - it's YOUR record, so you decide.  But some albums are worth a LOT of money.  Some albums/album covers get damaged and lose their value - those are the ones I like to use.  And they are getting kinda hard to find. There are a LOT of vinyl lovers out there that will give you a piece of their mind for "destroying" albums.  But, once again, it's YOUR record, your choice.
Have fun and please post pictures!

I eat it, it's the kind of bag people ask you where you got it 'cos it's so unique, and you feel smug for owning it!  Grin
