Got this cool box at the thrift store that looks like a book.  Painted it.  Put on a great postcard of sea turtles.  Decoupaged it.  Glued on a bunch of beads, sea glass, a few rusted bottlecaps, and then grouted the whole thing!  It was fun!

Slick that is really fun!
What treasures will you store in there?

Thanks, Julie!  Right now (like every other box in my house!  Undecided), it has craft supplies in it--a rubber stamp alphabet set.  But I'd like to store special cards/letters in it in the future!

You continue to inspire me, slick... and it brings back great memories of nights my boyfriend and I spent walking the beach across the street from our old apartment, watching mother turtles nest, or babies hatching.

Rock on!

Thanks again, silverBamboo!  Where did you live where you got to see mother turtles and babies hatching?!  I'm guessing Florida?   I would love to see that!  The only time I saw a sea turtle was in Hawaii (a once in a lifetime trip), and it was one of the most incredible things in my life.  I feel so lucky to have been so close to one in the water!

Yes, Florida. We lived on A1A in Brevard county. Ah, memories... the babies hatching were very rare to catch, but our first night out for a nesting-turtle watch, we actually saw 5, and found several more sets of tracks. It was amazing!

Oriental Trading sells paper mache boxes that look like books...
not quite as cool as this one, but with a little decoration they would be cool!

I love your turtle though, very cute!
