So, I stenciled these shoes the other day, but I don't think they are done. I think maybe some sort of swirls like wind (Blowin in the wind) coming out of the guitar, towards the back of the shoe. What do you think?  can you tell that it's Dylan?  The stencil was REALLY hard to do so small, and I had to alter the stencil, as it was too detailed.  What do you think?

I like them.. I haven't ever thought of stenciling shoes, really.

If you show them to a really savvy music person, they may think it's Woody Guthrie, though, because in the picture you chose, Bob was copying off of a well-known Woody Guthrie picture.

Those are bad-ass. Makes me want to stencil something with the Beatles on some shoes. What sort of paint would be the best to use on shoes?

I know what picture you're talking about, it's quite similar to the Guthrie one, but it wouldn't really be that bad if someone did mistake it for Woody, because, well, who doesn't love him?

Thanks! I'm actually working on some Beatles ones next (on brown canvas shoes)! It's really hard to stencil on the shoes, because it obviously isn't flat behind it, and it is REALLY hard to iron the freezer paper, and iron to set the paint.  I took a very large tomato sauce can, and held it behind it, and that kind of worked... I used regular acrylic screen printing ink (Speedball brand).

What do you think about an addition to the back?  They don't look complete to me, like they're missing something. Advice is greatly appreciated!

If you got a paint pen, you could write lyrics...

I do kind of like that. I think that would be even more awesome if there were some way you could get text as small as that so you could make it lyrics. Smiley

That looks pretty cool! I like it. Even though lyrics seems like a good idea seems like it might be a little too much to add to the shoe. I think you need to add something simple. And something like that squiggly design would look really cool.
