has anyone come across those sound activated light machines? my boyfriend found one at value village once but it was a totally homemade deal.  it was 5 coloured large christmas lights in a box with that textured clear plastic that is on fluorescent lights in front of it. the box was painted black, and there was a mic hooked into the circuit for the lights. what happened was the lights flashed with different intensities according to the sound it picked up (it was so cool to music). i want to make one now that i have moved away from the last one.

Wow, that's gorgeous and absolutely something I've never seen before. I love the effect the cups seem to make Tongue It'll be cool to have the cups painted with translucent paint perhaps?

I created a basic tutorial for making these light balls. The detailing and extras are up to you. Check posting #1989737 in miscellaneous crafts.  Or check out www.sparkleball.com --  this is a free website devoted entirely to these light balls. Good luck!

It's not what you have but what you do with it that matters.

I had forgotten all about these. When I lived in louisiana before moving to TN everyone had these and they were so pretty.

sparkleball lady thank you so much for the link I plan to have these everywhere next christmas for the new grandbaby. It will also bring back memories for my kids.

Many years ago my sister did one similar but somehow it was ll wrapped in white tulle for a sort of snowball effect. It was beautiful. The one thing I remember is she said she wasn't doing it again; once was enough.
