A friend and I had a sewing date yesterday, and this is what I came up with.  I have been covering my sewing machine with an ugly old tote bag, so this is a vast improvement.  Now I just need to make a matching cover for my Cricut (which is currently being covered with an old towel - not cute!).

The front and back are aqua (made from a pillowcase); the sides and top are pink floral.  This picture is really washed out from the massive window that is in front of my sewing table.  I suppose I should have moved the machine to take the picture.

A close up of the applique (I used Sublime Stitching patterns for it).  I realize now that I should have used more strands of floss to make the design stand out against the textured fabric.  Oh well.

I would recommend this project to anyone who is looking for a quick and satisfying afternoon of sewing.  My craft room looks so much nicer now!

That turned out really cute - and made me realize I need a sewing machine cover too. Smiley The combination of fabrics you used is really pretty.

This turned out so cute! I love the stitching you did, and that you used pinking shears makes it even better.

Rockin'!

I need to make a cover for my machine.

This is lovely and has given me inspiration.  My sewing machine's cover was a hard plastic and I threw it away and used a towel!  Daft I know but I thought if I did this it would push me to make a new one.  I am in the process of moving so my SM has been packed away (in its original box for protection) and this will definitely be *the* first project I sew when I get myself sorted out.

I love the embroidery of the mannequin with the pin cushion.  I have never embroidered so might have a go at doing something like this to practice.

What a wonderful way to spend a day/afternoon - sewing.  Keep it up.

Thanks for the replies!  If anyone else makes a cover, I'd love to see it!

I didn't use a pattern; I just measured my machine and started cutting.  I'm still a beginning seamstress, but it was very easy, even for me.
