Whilst looking for a quick, and easy present for my nephew, I came across Rex, and a friend of mine said that he looked "so unfrightening it was cute".

Well, this was back in late November, and my xmas/yule knitting list was WAY bigger than I was going to manage as it was, and even though his (the friend, not Rex) birthday was 4th Dec, I knew I'd have to drop an xmas gift if I was going to fit him in...

But, now it's Jan, and I'm knitting stuff I want for myself, or for people I want to (rather than feel I should!), so out came the "oh gawd i've got yards and yards of this really shiny acrylic, what else can it be but toys?!" yarn, and my version of Rex was born  Cheesy

But how to get past being a month late, with a bit of humour...?  Rex was packed into a box, with a postcard from himself, apologising for the delay, and explaining that time travel was still a bit haphazard, and would Alex please still love him anyway  Grin

Oh, and I posted him to his workplace, which confused the living daylights out of his boss  Grin

Before he went though, I made sure he kept up with his studies...
Here he is helping my SO to translate some German:

and here he is trying to be all grrr-like and protect my pc:

Very cute!  I knit one for my daughter last year, and my Rex wasn't very frightening either, as he was in pink!  The funniest thing was that she wanted red all over its mouth to look like blood, so I learned how to duplicate stitch.  It didn't turn out how I expected...Rex looked like he/she was wearing lipstick!  At least my daughter loves it.

Gaahh! That is so rad. Maybe I should make one for my friend named Rex?

If all our life is but a dream, fantastic posing greed
Then we should feed our jewelry to the sea
For diamonds do appear to be
Just like broken glass to me.

You should!  I've made a couple of dinosaurs now, and each one has been lovingly received!
