I made knit and tonic's le slouch for my daughter.  She really wanted a slouchy beret in purple.  I'm determined to knit through as much of my stash as possible in 2008, so I used what I had.

Here it is on me, in its original colour.

Here it is in the dye bath.  Only 2 packs of wildberry koolaid.

After being microwaved for about 30 minutes.

And here it is on my daughter.

She was really pleased with the end result.  I think I could have done a better job with the dying.  I read somewhere that you need to soak it for about 2 hours prior to dyeing.  I didn't do that, so I think the slight splotchiness that you can see is from little air bubbles that weren't soaked out.  Make sense?

I like the subtle color variations you got by dying, and your daughter looks pleased.  Nice job!

Mistake?  No... it's an Unexpected Design Element.  I put it there on purpose.  *ahem*

The splotchiness looks great!  That's how you know it was CUSTOM dyed...

I think it looks awesome Grin

She was pleased.  She figures she looks artistic with this beret.  I think she is right.  And the splotchiness is kinda growing on me.  Thanks
