This is my first project that I "designed" myself... with large parts lifted from the Space Invader Socks from Knitty and inspiration from Eunny Jang's Endpaper Mitts  Knit in KnitPicks Palette with a size 1 circ (magic loop.)

They were also my first colorwork project.  Haunted by memories of overly warm, scratchy sweaters with long floats that caught on my ears and hands when I was younger, I swore I'd never ever knit anything with 2 colors.  Well, my resolve soon faltered when I realized I could geek out with my knitting!  I made these mainly to wear to a part-time testing job where my hands get frigid, but I still need to be able to handle a game controller.

They're pretty long, over 100 rows (they go halfway up my forearm!)  The shooter and ship at the top were added after the gloves were finished with duplicate stitch.  They've got a bunch of problems, the big one being that they're hard to get on, because I didn't adjust my tension when I switched from one color to two colors.  Oops.  (They also attract more cat hair than you can shake a stick at.)

But the floats are all super short!  Cheesy

AHH!  These are completely brilliant.  What a swell idea to make them into gloves.  Now you need some centipede legwarmers.

... all you need now is a two-liter bottle of Shasta and an all-Rush mix tape. Wink

Sweet mitts!

I'm glad I'm not the only Futurama/video game geek around!  I really wanted to put the New New York skyline in the background, but it looked really weird, lol.

Thanks for the great comments!  Now, off to plan some Final Fantasy socks....

These are fantabulous, and would double as great leg warmers too.
