My partner had a pj set given to him over 10 years ago by his grandfather, who sadly passed away 3 years ago. My partner finally decided to throw the pjs away after not being able to fit into them for many moons! But when I opened the bin and saw little Gromits face peering up at me, I didnt have the heart to let them go forever. I washed them and put them in my 'to do' box/room. Realising Id forgotten about valentines day, I saw the pjs out of the corner of my eye and decided to put them into good use.
I cut the sides, neck and arms off of the top and fashioned it into a pillow case, making the pants (plain navy) into a seperate pillow case to go underneath the printed one. And was a bit blah about what I had made, until the MIL shows up and comments on the pillow, sat looking pretty on the partners computer chair, I tell her the little story about how it came to be, and she promptly starts crying and stroking my face for a good 20mins.

The partner was really happy with his little gift, seeing as them pjs meant a lot to him, and uses it everyday.

How could you let this little face end up on a landfil!

I like how soft the fabric is, and how vintagy (if thats even a word) the fabric looks from being washed and worn regularly.
Such a simple idea, with a whole lot of meaning!

thats such a cute story. i love the fact that you used an old pair of his pajamas. when i think back on all the old shirts and clothes i threw out with awesome prints that i could have made into cushions i get so mad at myself. you have given me the motivation to go through that big box of clothes i was going to throw out to the opp shop for some awesome ideas.

p.s i also love the way that the picture from the shirt looks like its well loved and faded. it adds a retro feel to it. Smiley

That is so sweet and I love Grommit.  I still have a t-shirt my grandpa always wore when I was a kid, I saved it from my grandma's garage sale Smiley
