thanks everyone!
the stitch is dc cluster stitch right out of the Harmony Guide, except I work it in the round without turning..
I'm working on getting some patterns made, still a bit of tweeking to do.

I'm really glad you like them!

hey prissypolly: I just saw your post office hat! cute! yours reminds me of the pretty puffs slouch hat I've been seeing around..
I didn't try as hard as you did to pull up a long loop like the P.O. hat pattern says, I just made long swooping yarn overs then held the hook right down low by the stitch when I pulled the final loop through. mostly because it's quicker that way, but also because this was my first try at it! I like how much more puffy yours are, though!

this is also the first time I've tried the Red Heart "soft" yarn. I really like the colors and it is indeed very soft, but it has a bit of a tendency to split while working, it snags more easily that the basic Red Heart or TLC and it's getting fuzzy really fast.. which is sometimes ok.. on this project I'm liking the way the fuzz fills the spaces between the stitches.

you've made a great start, keep up the crocheting! Smiley

These look like they came right out of a store! You did a brilliant job. The bill on the newsboy hat looks perfect! I also love the colors you chose for these hats. I want both of them for myself!!
