I have been working on this over the course of a few days. I 'm still not finished with it. But the only things I have left to do is add sequins on the latticed smocked band at the waist, hem the skirt and add hook n eyes on the zipper at the side. Oh, and add a lining, but am waiting to find the right fabric. Besides, winter is going to be here for a while so I have plenty of time.

I used one of my 1970's rare industry Dressmaking patterns I bought in July, but altered the bodice pieces and shortened the straps. I have been wanting to make one of these dresses for a couple months, but just got around to actually making it.

Anyways, onto the details and pictures. The bodice is princessed seamed, with a lattice smocked band *this was my first attempt at lattice smocking, all by hand. I love the effect the lattice smocking had.* There is also an inverted pleat in the center front. There is a zipper at the left side seam, for all who wonder what type of closure and where it is. But it is still unfinished and will post more pictures when I add the finishing touches to the dress.
Let me know what you think of the dress.
Thanx, Pamela.

*Sorry for the crooked pictures or lopsidedness of the dress, I'm taking pictures with a headache. But will post better ones a little later.*

Wow, that's so adorable! I've never tried smocking of any kind, but this sure makes me want to.

This looks great. The colors/fabric is oh-so lovely. Isn't teal in this season or something like that :o

Thanx. Once I tried smocking, I can't stop. This smocking is called Lattice/Canadian/North American Smocking I loved this one and just had to try it. Smocking is pretty cool and easy to do.

Thanx.  Muted/jewel colors are in this year. I saw this fabric and just had to buy it.

great job! Plaids are always a bit of a challenge (one that I personally enjoy). I would never think to try smocking with a plaid; very clever!

Thanx. I love plaids, but this was my first garment made with a plaid. I think I matched it quite well for my first try at plaids.

You know that's darling, right?  I have been so curious to try smocking, but it looks rather intimidating.  How hard would you rate it?

Your dress is very pretty and I'm really curious about the smocking. Is it difficult? Is it time consumming? I'd like to try it too one day but I'm not sure I would succeed as well as you (sorry for my English, my last lessons in highschool are far behind me).
