previously i was using a bowl to store my knitting notions in, and it looks a bit messy and not so cute having all these tiny rings, needle point protectors, and darning needles just hanging about.  so i decided to pick up one of those ready to paint boxes at michael's craft store and make myself a notions box Smiley  i watered down my baby blue, then wiped off the excess for a washed out, vintage look and used a very bright bright red for a good contrast (one of my favorite color combos). 

the fleur de lis on top is actually just a foam stamp i purchased....i'm too sick to try freehanding anything atm lol.

the great thing about these little boxes is that they don't use much paint, and you can decorate them however you wish.  they can also be used for just about anything.  its also very lightweight....i think its balsa wood or something similar Smiley

Really cute!  I also love that you decorated the inside as well.  I love the "washed over" wood look.  Great job!

thank you!  i was thinking of adding something around the fleur de lis on the lid.....any suggestions?  maybe some ribbon?

when i've decorated those boxes in the past they have always seemed to look amatuerish
yours looks great though!

i love the washed out look

Great idea.  Looks like you can put loads of notions in there.  Love the design you made.
