I'm almost ashamed to post this on here having just seen so many beautiful pieces of work on this board but at the same time I'm also quite proud that I've made a start. I followed a link from somewhere on Craftster about making your own drop spindle from a CD, dowelling and a curtain hook, I have a ridiculous amount of crafting supplies (and in line with the Buy Nothing Swap I'm trying to buy nothing I'm not going to use immediately) so after searching through my garden shed and the black hole that is the cupboard under my stairs I had everything I needed to make a start. And here it is, my first skein from roving my Mother gave me a couple of years ago dyed with Kool Aid I've received in various swaps (thank you lovely partners)

The photos are terrible as it's very dark here in the UK at the moment and I'm not terribly sure how to use my camera

Yay! for you!! You should be proud at your first attempt. It isn't some pile you look at and guess what in the world it is..it IS yarn! Pretty neat dark colors too. Give yourself a pat for it! Great Job. Now guess you'll have to swap for some more fleece or roving or batts and get yourself another fiber fix! Grin

That looks great for a first yarn!  The colors are really pretty, too.
