Made this neat little tricorn today. I'm totally in love with it Smiley It reminds of a corset Cheesy Had to do red since it's coming up on Valentines Wink

Obi fabric! I'm going to hawaii in two weeks, I want to go and get more of this type of fabric.

(I have a HUGE amount of pink ostrich feathers, they're so awesome)

I just found these feathers, I totally forgot I had them. Top Hat blocked by hand and all that lovely stuff

Keeping busy and working currently on a hat for a swap Smiley should be really fun to make, I hope. Wink Also just watched a movie based in the late 1930s and it made me drool over all those neat hats everyone used to wear.

Thanks! I love them also Wink really they're fun to make and I think that is the largest reason why I make them Smiley

I love the top hat with blue feathers Cheesy

I'm soo glad I found those feathers, it is crazy to see all the feathers I have and I'm actually out of peacock feathers currently.

Thanks,

There are a lot of tutorials online, even some old styled hat tuts just like the ones I make. Though for many hats you need a hat block, new they cost about $200-$300. You can find used ones, but they're not always the correct shape or size that people are looking for. I can give people pointers, but really each of the hats I made are one-of-a-kind, I don't make another one exactly like it. Each has it's own style, while I may use certain types of shapes often. Like the top hat above, I bought a hat block ($300) and taught myself out to block with just doing research online.

I love your stuff, especially the feathers!
I'm dying for some ostrich plumes, would you mind telling me where you get yours? I can't seem to find them anywhere...

Do you take Millinery classes or do you just find plain hat frames and modify them?  I really wish I could make hats with materials that are firmer than felt =/

I make Elegant Gothic Lolita goods on commission, and sometimes I just make things for the online store!
