I seem to have caught a nasty stomach virus and can't consume much other than liquids.  I have been subsisting off jello juice (jello before if jellos-up) and fruit juice).  I just finished off all my sugar free cherry jello so I'll need to stock up on my next trip to the states.

But it got me thinking about what other fav comfort foods people enjoy when sick.

When I was little and got sick, my mom would coax me into eating canned chicken soup and drinking ginger ale.  The soup had to be canned - something about the electrolytes.  These days, I hardly ever drink ginger ale because I associate it with being sick.  (Oddly enough, I don't have the same problem with chicken soup.)

When I recovered enough to eat solid food, my favorite was mom's mac and cheese - ziti, cayenne pepper, TONS of cheese, and bread crumbs on top, baked until gooey.

Hope you feel better soon!

My mom always fed me Campbell's Chicken 'n' Stars soup.  Do they still make that stuff?  I also like corn with lots of butter when I have a cold.

My husband LOVES salt and vinegar chips when he's sick.  That's the last thing I'd want to eat when I'm feeling under the weather!

When I am sick I love rice with soy sauce on it.  Brown or white rice, doesn't matter.
I also like anything from the "chip aisle" at the supermarket, chips, smartfood, doritos.....maybe it has something to do with the salt?

For me a good chicken soup, with lemon juice added.  That really cuts the phlegm from colds!

My hubby always likes scrambled eggs when he's down sick.  Light and easy to digest, a great source of protein, quick to make and clean up after!

My favourite food when I'm sick is always rice porridge. It's popular in Southeast Asia where I grew up. Coincidentally, I made some for myself and my husband today. Our stomachs aren't feeling too good. We're on holidays and have been a LOT of junk food.

my family is cantonese and we eat that too. except ours is plain made from white rice. sometimes we add lean pork or salted boiled eggs for flavor.

i love salty stuff when i'm sick. prob because all my mom feeds me is that plain rice porridge (easy to get down but lacking in flavor!)

try pudding and ice cream.  it's semi-solid and should be easy to eat.  and try some sprite/sierra mist/7-up or gatoraid/poweraid/whateveraid.  as someone said above the electrolytes help you feel better.  and once you feel like you can handle something a little more solid, try some crackers or a banana or something simular.

omg!  I love salt and vinegar chips when I'm sick too, but they have to be pringles.  I know I'm getting better when they start tasting icky.
