Hey all!

I, like many a gamer, have an unhealthy fascination with the chain chomps that inhabit the Mario Bros. World.

So, I knit one!

It was easy and quick to make, and I definitely plan on making more for friends!

The pattern is available here, through my blog. Any comments/suggestions/errata are more than welcome!

EDIT: The pattern is also on Ravelry, for anyone on there! I'd love to know if you guys are knitting the hat, and to see pics!

(The link will not work if you aren't a Ravelry member, sorry!)

WOOHOO!  This is by far my favorite of all the mario themed crafts to come around.  Great job!  Smiley  Also, thanks for the instructions - I'm pretty sure I'll have to make one of these.

I added this to my Ravelry queue (with a bunch of other projects) - I think it would make a great gift for my gaming-obsessed brother.  I don't know if he would actually wear it, but that's OK!

That is the most incredible hat ever. Also, I love the chains for looking separate. It looks like the half chain would fall off, but I guess it's knit to the rest of it.

TOO COOL!!! wednesday I was sitting in class doodling the red chomping flowers that come out of the pipes, thinking about this great mushroom pattern I saw that I want to use to make my bf a 1-up mushroom pillow.... So now I will make this hat, but in red with white polka dots and then make him a green one up mushroom for a pillow. It will be a Mario crafting month I suppose~

My husband had bookmarked your blog as "hat I want"... like, hey, honey... HINT HINT...

So I went to AC Moore a few days later with my best friend (also my sister-in-law - brother's wifey), and she told me "I have to tell you what David (my brother) is having me make Alex (my husband) for his birthday..." and proceeded to explain the hat...

I thought it was a really funny coincidence, and then here I come and see it in the featured projects section!

By the way, my husband loves the hat.

How AWESOME that I can tell its designer that not only was it apparently fun to knit, but my husband loves it, as well!

Great job!

Hah!  After I hit the submit button, I saw that my sister-in-law had posted right before me.  Funny.  Adding picture... Smiley

I think it should also be noted, that she used your Jayne hat pattern to make my brother the Jayne hat, and he wears it constantly.

Featured project! My first one! I am so giddy and giggly right now. Cheesy Cheesy Thanks to everyone who hit the This Rocks button! You guys and gals are supercool!

And Jenicat, the hat is awesome! Looks great! I'm amused that I've made a pattern that so many gamergeek guys can now bug their wives/moms/girlfriends/girls-who-knit-that-they-know to knit these for them. Cheesy I'm glad I made it an easy knit!

OMG heeeee happy *bounce*

xD this is great!! I'm in the middle of a Bob-Omb throw pillow for a friend to "throw" at friends.

I'm not fluent in knitting patterns (I only know garter stitch... and I can't read patterns unless it's crochet)!

I've bookmarked this for a time when I can understand knit patterns. x3 Thank you for sharing!

making this hat taught me the value of making a gauge before knitting. HA! Smiley but yes, the instructions were super easy to follow. the only thing i couldn't figure out was how to "SSP" I looked it up in a book, but it was still confusing. can you explain how to do it (properly) ? Cheesy

I've started knitting this for a fellow gamer.
He has no clue, which suits me just fine.
I walked up to him in school the other day and just jammed the hat part (no teeth or anything yet) on his head to try it on him.
It's a bit small, but it'll stay on...
Oh well, he's got too much dratted curly hair anyway...
