(Sun)flower baby blanket, little red pixie hood & my daughter's angel

Okay, so let me preface this with I will never again let my sister pick what she wants me to make for her children ever again.  My niece was born November 20th and didn't come home from the hospital until last week since she was born at 30 weeks.

That said, here's the baby blanket that I made for my niece-


This became the blanket from hell, it took over all my free time, for a LONG time.  I ended up having to come up with my own pattern since every pattern that I'd found wasn't what my sister wanted.  She also chose the colors for it, I think that's another reason it was becoming so tedious- I was so sick of brown and yellow, it looks like my grandma's 70's kitchen linoleum.

Next is a hat I liked making so much more.


The baby was still in the hospital over Christmas and they wanted to take a Christmas picture but didn't have a red hat for her.  I'd made the free pixie hat pattern from http://www.sweaterbabe.com/product_cp18.htm for my own daughter a couple of times last year, but couldn't find my printed pattern and hate reading from the computer.  I'd modified the heck out of the pattern anyway, so I just used the shape and it being textured as inspiration for this one.  I used a different stitch, did it from the point down, and used double stranded thread to make it.  It's on a napkin in the picture for size comparison. 

Finally, my daughter's Christmas gift-

This is a little angel doll that looks like her, except my own daughter still barely has any hair, but it's what I'm anticipating her hair to one day look like 

She was fun to make, except I frogged the wings like 6 times and I started her before Thanksgiving and didn't get her done until this past weekend because of all the holiday crafting I was working on for others.

the blanket came out wonderful, but i know exactly how you feel about the colors! i have a hard time finishing alot of things because i get tired of the colors. ^_^

I love the angel! It looks like the angel I use on my tree (that I've had since I was really little) only she's not crochet, just made of felt.
