Inspired by all the Mario/Nintendo quilts and a big fan of the NES myself, I decided to  make one for myself. Originally, it was only going to be a couple different characters...and then a couple more...and then a couple more.  Finally when I decided to call it quits it was a good sixteen characters (each character was made up of 1.5" squares and then appliqud onto 2' x 2' squares of fabric).  Then I decided Bowser would be a nice focal point being twice the size of all the original Mario characters (except princess and maybe toad).  After all was said and done, this quilt turned out to be over 8' X 10' (including borders), so I decided to remove four of the characters (a cheep cheep  fish, a green shell, a coin, and a feather...from Super Mario World) to make it roughly 8' X 8'.  The backing is just a black, king-sized flat sheet.  I figure I'll turn the other four squares that I removed into 2' x 2' pillows.

I was planning on hanging it up on the wall in my apartment to display, but I don't know if I have a wall big enough. Plus from floor to ceiling the walls are only a little over 7 ft.  :c/
Anyway, here's my most prized possession spread out on the floor...even though it didn't all quite fit in the photo.

This is awesome - the little preview pic made it look as if it was knit, with the pixellated nature of the picture.  It is amazingly well done.

will you take me to gang practice? yis?

I have a totally nerdy boyfriend who will love this!  I way dig old skool mario from NES; you have up, down, forward, back and fireball.  Now he spins and slides and does tricks . . . way too much for me.  These pixels take me back!
