For your viewing pleasure, here is my entry for the sheet music Papercraft Challenge:  recon’d music book to CD carrying case. Plenty of sheet music throughout!  Grin

 With nice picture first:

This was a California state music textbook for elementary schools in the 1940s, which included a lot of really basic sheet music with lyrics for children‘s songs. I kept the singing theme throughout, so hopefully this will eventually hold CDs of just vocalists.
I removed the innards of the book, but saved all of it and used some of the pages for the project. The other sheet music images I used were from an old piano drillbook and also some pages I received in a swap. And the idea came from everyxskyline’s posting: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=208655.0

I Mod-Podged various sheet music scraps on the cover and then painted over all of it with an acrylic bronzing kit (also received in a swap!) on the cover:
Lyrics say, "come and dance with me, both my hands in yours, you see." and "One, two, three, round about, so merry, oh!"

Lyrics on the back are from a traditional English song that I believe is actually called "The Drunken Sailor," but of course it didn't say that in the textbook.

It’s a modified “endless accordian” binding, with the backside of the accordian folds glued together and pages sewn into the valley folds on the front. Then some pages from the orginal book are attached to the mountain folds for the fun of it.

The outside of the sewn-in pages hold the CDs. (the stickers on the side say “joyful noise”
and there are different kinds of CD holders throughout the book.

The inside fold of the sewn-in pages are for carrying liner notes. I cut some overhead transparencies and attached them with various tapes and stickers. Being transparencies, they’re hard to see in these scans but all the liner notes are tucked in behind them...I just figured out how to fix this and will go do that, but until I can post updated pics:

Two quotes on stickers hold it in place on this one: "A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song."- Maya Angelou. and, "Sing, Sing a song, Sing out loud, Sing out strong...Make it simple, To last your whole life long, Don't worry that it's not good enough, For anyone else to hear, Sing, Sing a song." - Joe Raposo

There are more pages, but that's the gist of it. Coming soon(ish) to a swap near you!

Yes, I used this opportunity to showcase some of the mildly obscure music in my collection.  Smiley Unfortunately I don't have any of Manu's other music!

Cool idea! My husband just ripped all of his old CDs (a least 100!) onto our PC, and he won't toss them out! I think this may be a cool way to salvage some of them  Cheesy Maybe then I can convince him to toss the rest out...

Brilliant reuse of existing stuff and I love how you made all the different CD holders.

Very cool.

Don't toss them!! Offer 'em up in a swap, or go to the "What the Heck Can I Do with This?" board and make something with them...Like a CD mini-scrapbook of his earlier years when some of those CDs were really influential in his life, or if he has any ticket stubs from concerts he saw of any of those bands, etc. (Cover the blank, shiny side of the CD, not the side with the artwork/text)
There's a tutorial for those here somewhere, I'll go find it...
