My challenge entry was inspired by the little bronze birdie you see below; I bought him at a thrift shop and he needed a home. All of the sheet music I had was romantic, so that inspired me to make it a valentine, too.

Materials used:
Corrugated cardboard from a banana box
sheet music
stamps
ink
paint
rub-ons
glitter
rhinestones
embossing liquid
ephemera
wooden skewers
tiny feathered bird

The base is made entirely of corrugated cardboard so it would still be a paper craft (!), covered in sheet music from a German love song (since hubby and I spent so much time there I thought it was appropriate), and embellished. When you look inside the hole, there is a heart shaped photo of us and the lyrics "True as the stars above..." Here's an in progress shot where you can see it:

The roof is removable, so I can put a battery powered tea light inside so that it lights up the picture. It will also be filled with little love notes, perfect to keep and read later when we get cranky with each other  Smiley There are a bunch of detail shots on my flickr if you are interested. Hope you like!

That is adorable! It would've been really cute just as a ready-made birdhouse like I assumed that it was, but you actually MADE the structure, and that just piles on the greatness of it! Well done, banga...Don't let the tealight catch it on fire, please!  Smiley

I'm living/working in Yosemite Nat'l Park til further notice! Blogging about it here. No swapping for me, and minimal crafting time, for the coming months. Almost done with library school! That sums things up for now.

Don't worry! It's a tiny LED light and it doesn't get hot!

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Wowee! This is fantastic.

I'm especially taken with the glittery perch.

I'm sure this valentine gift will be very appreciated.

Wonderful work.
