After yet another trip to the yarn store today, I decided it was time to find somewhere to store all this crap. Ideally I would have a nice big apartment with an extra room to store everything in, but in a group house with 4 other people, thats not happening. So, here's what I came up with:
Champagne box for needles-

closet yarn storage-

I would love to hear everyone else's methods of organization!

That hanging organizer is a great idea. I cleaned out a closet yesterday with the intention of storing all my yarn and fabric in there in some kind of organizer. I only came up with one of those 3 drawer things but now I am going to to look for one of those.

Cheesy I really like the closet idea. Did you make it or buy it? It's funny cuz today i just reorganized my yarn. It all used to be stuffed into a clear garbage bag with the idea that i would be able to tell which yarn was where. But as my yarn colleciton grew, i had to dump out the whole bag just to find one skein!
Basically, i packed them into boring boxes and stacked them in the corner. Not as exciting as yours. I was wondering- does the yarn fall out if the hanger moves?

Oh my god, that closet thing is such a good idea, I have one similar but my shoes are so heavy that it kind of..  doesn't work. Also, I have that same black and white comforter Cheesy

Thanks, y'all.
My yarn had been stored on my bed, in boxes, on the floor until now. I was at my Mom's poking around in the attic for some storage containers when I discovered the hanging thing. I have no idea where she got it but I'm pretty sure they have them at Target and I'm SURE they have them at Ikea. Its perfect because the one thing I'm blessed with is a large closet!

Thanks for the closet idea!!! Here in Paris it's very difficult to have a big appartement, because it is so expensive. I put my yarn on a box under the bed but I think I will try your idea (or maybe I will stop buying yarns--- Nooooo, I will try your idea instead).

Haha, that's great!
I managed to clear out my old under-bed tub today.
I'll be able to get my yarn out of my old comforter bags and into a proper tub now!

Nice! I have a sort of window-seat trunk thing that I keep most of it in, but I think when I go to college I'll have to try out your closet storage idea.

Organization! HA! There's no such thing in my house. There's boxes of yarn and stray notions EVERYWHERE. hahahahahaha

I think it's because we've crammed my hubby, myself, and our toddler into three rooms with only two meager closets. I'm hoping to get better organized when we move to our bigger apartment in May. I can hope, right?  Lips sealed
