I figure it is better to post it all in one big post...

I made this for my MIL...all of her  grandkids are represented...it is about 8x10"
the idea came from a posting on quilled creations, I can't take the credit for the idea.

I made this for my daughter's kindergarten teacher who was WONDERFUL!!!
The pencil is about 15 inches long and about 4 inches wide.  The lettering is definitely the hardest part.

And this is a silly card I made for my dad...who hates frogs...I can't take credit for the design, I found that and copied it too.

and...a matte I made for a friend's wedding picture.  Everything is made out of paper...roses...the pain in my butt.  Sorry this pic is a little blurry

They're all wonderful, but I really like the "Nana's Angels", that's just sweet.

You took the words right out of my mouthL  "They're all wonderful!"  But, I really like the last one, an over door crown? That would be awesome over a bed, too...so romantic. You did a fabulous job, some of those are so intricate I can't imagine the finger aches!! OH, nuts! I just went back and looked again and see what you meant by "matte". Doh! you meant a matte! rofl at myself. I was wondering how you got that so huge! It's a beautiful picture matte, very special.  Smiley  100% for YOU!

Dang if I'm not amazed by your work again!!!  You rock!  I want to know any time saving secrets you have for churning out that much quilling (which looks like it would take about six months! lol)

Holy cow.  I love those angels.  The halos are adorable.  I love quilling, but I never know what to do with it.  I mean, I create flowers and such for scrapbook pages, but I'd love to find a bigger scale project for it.

Thanks again for the nice comments...and
Well, I hope you don't think that I just whip those out everyday.  I just started posting on craftster so I have a backlog of pictures.
But I have come up with a couple time saving techniques:

Always make an extra or two...
Like the angels...I made four or five extra when I was making them.  When you already have out the supplies and are in the mode it is easier than starting cold again...then when you are in need of a quick card or gift you have a stash that is ready to glue onto a card or matte or something.  The little things are pretty tough for being paper, if you store them in a hard container where they can't get crushed they will last.

And for the large projects I have found that if you just sit and roll the fill ins while you are watching a movie, say of yellow b/c I know I'm going to do a big ass pencil...I just make all different sizes and shapes and then when you are ready to glue them on you just lay them out and start gluing down.  That saves a ton of time.  My first project I did one at a time, roll, glue, roll, glue, roll, glue.....took way too long.

Hope it helps some.

And to fatgail:  the 'typical' quilling didn't appeal to me, the floral designs and such, I do them but I really like the mosaic effect of the larger projects.  I find that you can find frames that are deep enough to hold the quilling so really, you aren't limited to tiny projects.
