This will give me the motivation I need, I'm so glad I decided to check this board out. I started this pattern for my fiancee in Jan07 and haven't gottenvery far, but I've decided to try and get it done for him (in secret Shocked) for our anniversery this May.
We are both live in Canada, but he is half American as well. I think he will like this, I dont have any in progress pics yet but here is the pattern.
I have the background wing done and I just started the second wing last week.

my first thought was "Half American huh, well that picture works...you can really see only half of the American flag" Ha Ha

Post a pic if you can of what you have done!
As for my stuff, its gone on the backburner due to a couple swaps I'm in. Still cross-stitching though, as I'm sending some stuff in the swaps. I'll post those when I'm completely done with them!

Okay, so I made some progress on my Challah cover. Now though I need help.

Here is the last update:

Here is the current update:

What is missing? I know I want to do something around the edge, but what? And should I do any other stitching? I'm also thinking of removing the pearls. They look odd I think. Maybe I should move them to the ends of the white stitches?

Help.  Huh

I like the pearls-they would look good on the ends of the white too. . Those pine cones are gorgeous!

Thank you kittykill! Coming from you (the stitching queen), that is for sure a compliment. Smiley

Hoping to get this done in time to use it this week (Friday & Saturday).

What a beautiful Challah cover.  What beautiful detail.  If I might suggest...I'd add about three or four stitches to the bottom right hand side of the "bet" to make it look more of a "bet" than a "kaf".  It is going to look gorgeous on your Shabbos table.

Looks great! I like the pearls a lot. Adds something different to it.

As for additon: Maybe something in the top right corner to balance out the bottom left. Just something small, maybe a corner of the leaves with some of the pearls and white stitching.

I was thinking of something in that corner, too.  Thank you! Smiley

Moved the pearls, and it looks much better now. Will work on it more tonight, and post updated images tomorrow.
