Hey everyone!  A friend and I are considering making mainly soap, but also lotions, candles, glosses, bath salts and etc. to sell with her jewelry display.  Can anyone suggest some good things to add to these items that would reflect our desert location?  We're looking for scents that represent the desert and I really can't think of anything.  (We're in the desert of West Texas.)

Thanks!  I really appreciate it!

There's a lovely cactus fragrance oil, will have to think of the name for you. A dupe of Polo Blue (nice clean, not too masculine scent) would be cool if you renamed it "desert skies" or something. Leather scent? That doesn't really smell too good though! What kind of flowers grow there? I'm only familiar with Arizona desert. Maybe something like honeysuckle or night blooming something.

Thanks, maremare!  I've been thinking cactus scents as well.  Mostly what we have is prickly pear, agave, etc, etc.  Actually, leather scented things sell surprisingly well out here.  We have a lot of tourists from out of state and they get into the "cowboy" vibe when they get here.  I guess they have to have leather-smelling hands, so they have to buy leather-smelling soap!   Roll Eyes

Also maybe sage? Sagebrush? Citrus and sage is a nice combo. It would be really cute to wrap your soap with a little rope, get the whole cowboy vibe going!

Some earthy scents might make nice additions too. Nag Champa, Sandalwood or Patchouli would be nice. You could also get creative with renaming the fragrances. For instance, get a nice Rose fragrance and name it Desert Rose, or a nice Arabian Musk and call it Arizona Sunset. Good luck with your display!
