cottoncandy- merino top dyed with neon food colors


pink icing- merino top mixed with pink angelina


spokane lilac - merino tussah blend


candy cane - my first EVER done on a wheel!!- white is merino top and red is corridale

littlemiss I can't wait to get my wheel, did you find it easy to get the hang of? Are you a predrafter, I do with my spindle and was wondering if I needed to do it as much with the wheel. Your yarns are fabulous, I love that your first was a candycane strip and you got the wheel for christmas!

I've been lurking and watching Fiber Friday for a long time and I finally decided to post some spinning of my own!  This is all I have this week, some purple superwash wool, 518yds, fingering weight.  I haven't washed it yet.

Everyone's yarn is so pretty this week, as usual!

I learned to spin at about 14 at only had anything (spindle, 2nd hand wheel and some wool) because my parents wanted to encourage craftyness. But it was still slow, and these were the days before the internet (woah, I know) so to get anything I had to go get it. In a car. Wow. And generally my mom got the handspun, mostly because she knit (I do too now) but I do wonder if it was like payment for getting me those things..... But now I'm an almost 30 year old mother of two who owns 2 wheels (does happy dance), more spindles than I should have, two sets of hands carders, a drum carder, hand combs, and boxes of fibre I don't tell my husband about.

Give it time and enjoy being young. Curses, I know you are going to say I sound just like your mom. Because I sound just like MY mom.

It's ok, I understand lol. I hoping getting a job will help,although it might backfire if it takes all my time from spinning.

i worked on a spindle for...probably 6 months before i got my wheel, so that helped kinda knowing what i was doing, i dont really predraft i dont think, XD my mom says i am not doing anything conventional, but its working for me!!

lapoli: oops i forgot to answer your question... i dyed my wool with food coloring and kool-aid.  yay!
