I prefer the first one. The silver in between the dark red and black really helps with the contrast.

I hope this doesn't sound mean or anything because I don't want to offend, but, I thought you should be aware that the invitations kind of look like pokeballs, either way.

Here is a link to a picture of one:

I like the second ribbon arrangement better (thicker black ribbon with a thinner silver ribbon on top) and I'm thinking if you moved the circle shape so it is closer to the opening of the invitation it might not be as pokeball-ish.

Regardless of pokeballs or not, what others think about them is nowhere near as important as what you like regarding your invitations. I could probably be the only person who thought "Pokeball!" as she scrolled through the "Recent posts with pics," you know? So, don't worry about anything too much. Do what you like, okay?

Another thought - keep the circle in the center and put a white daisy shape (like, a deeply scalloped circle) behind the black circle but on top of the ribbons. That would look really cool and tie the inside to the outside really well.

i thought they looked familiar! i just didn't know what they were actually called. i like the second one better although if you bought stuff for both why not just send out a variety?

i like them both, but i think that the top one flows better because the black is the same width on the ribbon as on the circle...or as close as close can be.  but i also thought why not send out both?  it's not like anyone's going to compare invitations.  i'm super duper anal about that kind of thing though, so while it's easy for me to say it, i don't know that i'd have the cajones to actually do it.  when it's your wedding, i imagine you want things to be just so.

what WOULD willie do?

The thin black ribbon looks nicer, I think.

Don't worry about the pokeball thing... I definately didn't think of that when I saw it.
I think I like the first one better.

I also like the first one best. Can't really say why. I just do. Good luck!

I've never heard of a pokeball.

I like the first one better.  If red and silver were your main colors and black was just an accent color, I'd like the second one better.

Great job, ruby!!

I think they both look great, but I'd vote for the first one if I had to choose.

but that is prob due to my huge obsession when i was little.
but do go for the 1st one- stronger visual impact.

Working on: Wahol-esque Nite Owl painting, more knitted tanks, embroideries by the dozen.
