Okay, actually so far it's Wile E Coyote slippe_r_, but I got really excited by how these turned out and I just had to post.  These are for my boyfriend... he complains that no one makes cute, plushy slippers in a size 14, and so I agreed to make him some slippers of his favorite cartoon character (Him: "Can you really do that? Me: "Uhh... I think so!").

Basically, I bought some cheap slippers in the right size and have been covering over them with fun fur. I thought for a while about making them from scratch, but really couldn't figure out what to use for the soles that would be durable enough.

Here's what it looks like!

**** Updated ****

Okay, as promised, I took some pics while I was making the second slipper, so you can see how it's put together.  I'm not sure this is really detailed enough to count as a tutorial, but maybe it will help someone in piecing together their own slippers.

So, I started with an ugly blue slipper, and covered it over with brown fun fur.  You can see some of the blue poking through at the top.  I left lots of spare fabric on the top of the slipper so it could be shaped into a "head" later on.

Then I cut out some pieces for wile's jowls and snout.  The jowls are just tubes of fun fur loosely stuff, doubled over, and held in place with a few stitches.

The nose is a big wad of batting with felt covering over it and tied so that it makes a little black knob.  Then I cut a hole in a piece of fun fur and stuck the unfinished end of the nose through and stitched it down.

Now I'm starting to stitch it all together.  You can see that the extra fabric on the slipper has been gathered up to make the head, and the jowls were stitched to the sides.  Now I'm starting to stitch on the snout, starting at the front.

Once the snout stuffed and stitched down, I did some detailing with thick black thread to make it look like lines across the snout.

Next, the eyes.  These were pretty tricky, and I had to think for a while about what I was going to do that would work for the eyes.  I ended up making them kind of like making a covered button -- I took a stiff piece of plastic in the shape of an eye, put some batting on top of it, covered it with white fabric and hot glued a felt pupil onto it.

Now, I'm stitching the eyes onto the head.  An upholstery needle really helps for this, because the curve makes it a lot easier to stitch on something without having access to the back side of the fabric.

Finally, the ears.  I didn't put batting in the ears at all because I didn't want them to look too rounded.  Instead, I made one piece of fun fur slightly bigger than the other so that it would curve when sewn.  This worked really well, because when you flip it inside out, the seams make the outer edges of the ear thicker and the inside falls in and looks very ear-like.

Stitch the ears on, and some scraps for eyebrows, and ta da!  You've got a pair of mean looking Wile E Coyote slippers.

All in all, I was actually pretty amazed at how easy this was to pull off, especially since I had no real pattern and have never tried to make a stuffed animal before.  The fun fur is really forgiving, too... you can stitch really messily, and the fluffiness of the fur just covers it right up!

I'll give them to him next week, and I hope he likes them!  Maybe later on if I'm feeling ambitious, I'll make a pair of road runner slippers for myself so he can chase me around the house Smiley

Hehe, that's awesome.  Wile E Coyote is so badass. The second slipper is still in progress... I'll try to take some pics along the way so I can explain in more detail how they were put together.  Thanks for the nice comments, guys!

Give yourself a round of applause, a cookie or a shot of your choice!  This is great work!!

Keep it up!

those are gonna be great. my husband really wants slippers too. He's a 13 and doesn't like that his only choices are old-man-ish.
