Yippee!  This one is just the first one...so remember...the learning curve and all.  Made of linen with a flannel lining.  Yes...those are little squirrels on the lining!  I may try to reduce the pattern so it doesn't gather in the back.  That's just what the pattern said to do.

Hope you like it!

No, it's not really too difficult...as long as you take your time in cutting and sewing.  It can look all wonky if you don't cut and sew straight.  The fabric choice is something to consider, too.  A nice hefty outer fabric makes clean lines and a nice structured look. Linen is even a little too soft unless you back it with an interfacing...which I did NOT do here.

Thanks for looking!

The squirrel fabric is dope...I seen a hoodie done with it.  Anywho, was there a pattern you followed?  I just bought Saturday Night Hat/but in the process of moving and like you said you need to take your time to cut and sew or it could look all wonky.  You did a great job...hopes mines come out as cute!

It's a vintage Simplicity 6191 pattern.   I have a few more vintage hat patterns that I'm also going to try sewing and I will see how they work out.

I really loved fellow Craftster's Ellenade's hats...I own two of them...so when I saw this pattern on eBay, it looked similar so I thought I'd buy it.  It's different, but still works for me.

Later!

I got it on eBay.  I saw another one on there tonight, btw.  The price went up to $15.00 for the two vintage patterns offered in the auction.  I figured that it was worth it, even if I used one of the hat patterns one time.

Thanks for all the compliments...they really mean a lot when they come from my fellow Craftsters!

Yep pretty stinkin cute and well worth the $15 investment! I actually like the gathering at the back. I think if you made it fitted it could look funny? I do like a hat to have some room... anyway nice hat! I am going to go off and try to crochet something like it! Smiley

Thanks everyone.  I really need to make more.  I have always been semi-obsessed with hats.  I used to wear frou-frou vintage hats to work and church in my early twenties.   Grin  Maybe when I grow up I'll get more into Millinery.  So many crafts, so little time!

Thanks! It looks a little more 'relaxed' now that I've washed it a few times. The linen, of course, doesn't really stay crisp and gets softer when you wash it. But it's still my favorite hat and looks nice and broken in.
