i'm looking to buy a typewriter. although i LOVE the vintage ones, i am planning on buying it to use, and to use quite a bit, so i need some advice on where to start.

i worry that i might get a lovely gorgeous old one and i won't be able to find tape for it..

i realize if i want an old one where i could look, but what about for new-ish ones that i would be able to easily find the tape for?

My Typewriter is so fricking beautiful I nearly went & took a photo to show off to you but I have tea in front of me so meh

Different Typewriters need different ribbons! For my type writer it was difficult to get the right one but in the end I found somewhere so every few years I go back to stock up. Its in Northampton & I'm in London!

Before buying one just ask what ribbon it takes & then google that type of ribbon to see how easy it is to get, its something I should I done really but I didn't think!

for some reason, no one knew that answer. i guess i don't know enough people who like typewriters.

feel free to post a picture of yours when your tea is gone Smiley

well you twisted my arm! It came with a hard case & types in red & black. Was about 20 from Ebay a few years back

Just incase you've not seen them before thats what the ribbons look like.

Also quite randomly I asked my boyfriend if he remembered what the ribbon shop was called & he found thier website (he's amazing like that!) http://www.colemangroup.co.uk, maybe they post?

Good luck!
