seeing if I'm doing as nice a piece as my husband says I am.

full front view, he's about four feet tall for a scale reference.

and a closer shot of the "face"

mostly looking for suggestions on improvements as this guy is old and I'm wanting to do another.

I think this is very cool; I like the Renaissance feel. The one thing I might change is add some embellishment or trim at the top, bottom, or all edges that has some of the colors from the applique.

I think he is great! I like his face! But the folds in his tabard and cloak blow me away. Nice job!  Is it hand embroidered?

Thank you for the suggestion Feast Your Eyes, I hadn't actually thought of that... and would be a good use for some of my trim stash Grin

RubySugar, no.  It's all done by machine, satin stitch with rayon and straight with knitting silk.

wow, its gorgeous. I wish I had the patience to make my son a mounted Gael banner, for his room. I paid to have one done on the back of his letterman jacket and it cost me 400 bucks for just the patch. You have serious skill.

Less patience and more stubborn I think, and my hands were Not Happy when I was done... I just so want to do a mounted jousting knight for one and am looking for ways to "make better"

Thank you for the Comments  Grin Grin
