FOUND Swap??

Hey Everyone!

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a swap inspired by  the FOUND website and magazine.

You can check out the site at www.foundmagazine.c om. There's some pretty interesting stuff.

How the swap would actually run would be up for discussion.  There's lots of possibilities.  I was thinking of crafting with 'found' things (ie found on the streets, found and purchased in a thrift store, found at the dump).

Give me a shout if this sounds like something you're interested in!

What a great idea - I love making art from found objects so this sounds perfect! 

Maybe crafting with inspiration from a found thing? Or even sending your found thing (or a photo of it) to your partner who then crafts from it and sends it back to you?

I've just seen a book about Mark Dion's Thames dig, where he found the most amazing things and displayed them in a big cabinet in the Tate museum - and it got me thinking about this swap again...

I really think this could be fun; jewellery incorporating a found piece (I always find bits of earrings and stuff), mosaic with found glass / porcelain, for textiles it could maybe be a bit disgusting to use found stuff, but you could take inspiration from a colour or a design you find, etc etc.

I'm always looking for interesting stuff; my favourite find was a feather with a phone number stamped on it!

Well I think it's worth doing.  Maybe I'll just open it up.  If it's just you and I that join then so be it!

I'll post it some time this weekend.  What kind of time frame would work for you?

Great - should be fun!!  Since I have a little one (almost 8 months now) it would be best for me if it starts soon, but is run over a quite long time so I don't have to stress too much -especially to get enough time to find something interesting to start off with!!

How are you thinking in terms of the size/number of objects, how the crafted object relates to the found object etc? Or would it be quite free how we respond to the challenge?

Actually, I'm going away the first two weeks in March and then there is Easter; would it be possible with a send out after Easter? I know that's a looong way away, but there is quite a lot in my diary the weeks up until then...
