I just made rectangles and laced them together. Maybe they'd look better with a contrasting color lacing them up, maybe even ribbon?

Nice job for your first attempt - especially since you weren't using a specific pattern!

My one suggestion would be to add a ribbon that is a different (contrasting) colour (I would say a yellow, orange, or pink?) and I see that you've mentioned this at the end of your  post. I say go for it because it will make them more interesting and I think a little more finished looking. Great job for a first attempt, once again!

OH I am soooooo glad you posted this over here (saw your post at another forum which I only lurk at) I love it!  So many diff ways to make them using different sts  etc.  Thanks for the idea and for sharing!!
