I like the BBQ page, it was funny when I opened the envie, I was oohing and ahhing over it and was surprised to see your name on the back- I can usually peg your work (from so much past swappage Wink) and this page was quite different in technique with your same "Katxena" look if that makes any sense at all.  Its fun branching out and I hope to do a little stitching myself, being quite enamoured of everyone else's efforts!

I am really glad you like the page AM!  I've been reading some histories of indie media lately, and I read a quote by Dan Sinker, founder of punk planet magazine, that really resonated me.  He was talking about life after his magazine, and said "The 'real world' is still very much as I left it 13 years ago -- everyone's sitting around waiting for permission to create.  **** that.  Dive in."

I keep hearing that in my head, because I feel like a lot of times I am sitting around waiting for permission.  I'm trying really, really hard to just dive in.

I'm hoping to get my sewing machine in working order so I can play with mine that way too. I love the way a little sewing transforms things. Hoping for someday soon *fingers crossed*

I really like that quote Katxena. I may have to borrow that and keep it handy.

OH Kat!!  Chunkies are your forte'!  Awesome to see all your layers expanded to a larger canvas.

Here are two new chunky pages I've made.

This one is called "something".

This is the back of "something" -- I am so in love with those doll legs.

With this one, I was trying to copy the way Alteredmommy uses gesso.  I started with a collage paper base, then covered it with distress embossing powder.  Then I loaded up my paint brush with gesso and patted the side of the brush all over to create texture.  I did about 3 layers of gesso, letting it dry in between.  Then I added paint and ink to create shadows, and some copper paint to emphasize the demon a bit more.  It's called "Tether your demon."

The back (which I don't have a picture of) says "tether your demon and create."  This page is for me.

great page Kat!  I like how your gesso turned out (lots of background texture is definitely the key) and the tethered demon is genius.  Good for you making a page for yourself (novel concept that  Wink)
